Derrick Hooker, an employee from Nutritional Services, was delivering a meal tray to a patient’s room, and after greeting the patient, he noticed her speech was slurred and she was acting strangely. Derrick realized something was wrong and went to the nurses’ station for help. Only five minutes earlier that patient’s nurse had been in the room, and everything was fine, but during those few minutes she had suffered a stroke. Thanks to Derrick’s quick action and professionalism, he saved this patient’s life. He is a valuable part of the North Hills team, and we salute him for being a hero!
